Where to stay in Córdoba for the May festivals
Cruces, Patios and Feria each pull a different part of the city. Pick the base that matches the festival, the hour you get home and whether you arrive by car.
Ten years covering Córdoba's UNESCO heritage sites, sourcing from Junta de Andalucía documentation.
For most visitors the best base for the May festivals is the Judería or the Centro, a short walk from the patio routes and the Cruces barrios, with the Parador de Córdoba in Arruzafa as the calm alternative if you have a car or a taxi budget. The three festivals fill rooms for the best part of five weeks, and the dates fall like this:
- 2027, per the Ayuntamiento's approved calendar: the Cruces on 28 April to 2 May, the Patios on 3 to 16 May and the Feria on 22 to 29 May.
- 2026: the Cruces ran 29 April to 3 May, the Patios contest 4 to 17 May and the Feria closed on 30 May.
Three questions decide the choice: how far you will walk home at midnight, whether you arrive by car, and how early you can commit to a room. Programmes and confirmed dates live on the event pages for the Patios festival, the Cruces de Mayo and the Feria de Córdoba; the year-round neighbourhood comparison is in where to stay in Córdoba.

Which base for which festival
Each festival happens in a different place, so one base does not serve all three equally well. The table gives the short answer; the sections below give the reasons.
| Festival | Where it happens | Sensible base | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cruces de Mayo | San Basilio, San Andrés, Santa Marina, San Agustín | Judería or Centro; Parador for quiet | Night music in the barrios |
| Patios | Five routes in 2026, from San Basilio to San Lorenzo | Judería, Centro or San Basilio | Small hotels sell out first |
| Feria | El Arenal, beside the Guadalquivir | Centro or Judería on foot; Parador by car | Ground runs through the night |
How early to book
No hotel association or statistics office publishes occupancy for the May festival weeks in Córdoba, so the best hard evidence is a snapshot from 2024. On 13 May of that year, four days before the Feria's first weekend (17 to 19 May), booking platforms were already telling searchers that about 90% of properties were unavailable for those dates. The report's own wording:
“Un 90% de los alojamientos ya no están disponibles en nuestra web para esas fechas”
El Debate, 13 May 2024
One snapshot from one year proves little about 2027, yet it shows how quickly the Feria weekend goes. The same 2024 report said:
- nights during the Patios and Cruces had at times averaged around €800, well above Feria rates;
- prices climb the closer a property sits to El Arenal.
Those are history, not a forecast, but they show where the pressure lies: small centre hotels for the Patios fortnight and anything near the Feria ground.
The practical rule is to take a refundable rate as soon as you know you are coming, then re-check once the 2027 calendar is published. A pre-set search for a Friday-to-Monday stay inside the expected window is offered at the top of the page and again in the Cruces and Feria sections; change the dates once the programme is confirmed.
Cruces de Mayo: where the music is
The crosses are put up by neighbourhood associations and peñas in the barrios of San Basilio, San Andrés, Santa Marina and San Agustín, with bar stalls and sevillanas and dance shows that run into the night. Walking those streets is the point of the festival, so sleeping inside one of them only works if you can sleep through the performances. Our Crosses of May guide maps the barrios in more detail.
Most of our listed hotels sit in the Judería and the Centro, a short walk from those barrios. Hotel Madinat, with 11 rooms, says its lane moves from tour groups at 7 p.m. to local residents by 10, and Hotel Marisa keeps some rooms on an interior patio, the better pick for light sleepers. To put real distance between you and the music, the Parador de Córdoba is 4 km north in Arruzafa, with free parking and a taxi rank outside the entrance. Ask any hotel which cross is set up nearest before you pay.

Patios festival: pick a base by route
The 2026 contest listed five routes, and in 2026 the patios opened from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 22:00. The four-hour midday gap shapes the day: be at the first patios when they open, and keep the afternoon for lunch and a siesta back at the hotel. The 2027 route list is not out, so read the list below as a map of districts.
- Santa Marina-San Agustín. No hotel in our collection sits in Santa Marina; stay in the Centro, where Casa de los Azulejos starts from €72 a night.
- San Lorenzo. Same answer: San Lorenzo has no listed hotel, and the Centro is the nearest base.
- San Pedro-Santiago. Casa de los Azulejos is the closest verified option to San Pedro, 50 metres from Plaza de la Corredera.
- Judería-San Francisco. The widest choice: Balcón de Córdoba from €84 and Las Casas de la Judería from €102.
- San Basilio. Hostal Alcázar, from €32, is the only hotel in the barrio, so it is the first to go.
San Basilio stays residential in the evening, while the Judería has the Mezquita and the dinner options a block away. If you plan to see patios across both weeks, kitchen apartments save eating out twice a day: Casa de las Comedias (from €90) and Apartamentos Calleja de la Hoguera (from €120) both have full kitchens. Dates and route details are on the Patios festival guide.
Feria and El Arenal: the walk home
The Feria de Nuestra Señora de la Salud takes over El Arenal, a flat riverside ground of more than 30 hectares beside the Guadalquivir, and the city counts more than a million visitors passing through. It ends in the last days of May: in 2026 the final day was 30 May, though the municipal page and the regional calendar differ on whether it opened on the 22nd or the 23rd. The ground officially closed at 06:00 on the last Sunday, so the night does not wind down early.
Getting home from the ground comes down to three facts:
- On foot: from the old town the walk across the Puente del Arenal takes about 25 minutes by one press guide.
- Public transport: the city asks visitors to use it and publishes a notice of special measures for access, mobility and buses.
- Night buses: press reports mention extended night-time lines. Check the current Aucorsa timetable for line numbers and frequencies before you plan a 3 a.m. return.
For the Feria the Centro or the Judería makes the walk there and back the main cost of your bed. If you want to sleep through the night, the Parador in Arruzafa is the quiet option, but it needs a car or a taxi budget. The 2024 press report found prices rising nearer El Arenal, so a cheaper room a few streets further in can pay for the extra walk. The Feria guide covers the casetas and the programme.

Cars, parking and restricted zones
Parts of the Casco Histórico, including lanes around the Mezquita, are restricted-traffic zones that need an A.CI.RE authorisation. The groups the city lists for it are residents, garage users, local business holders, owners and drivers with reduced mobility. Hotel guests are not among them, and one-off access runs through a prior notice limited to 2 per vehicle per week. Whether a particular hotel can register your car is something to ask it directly, before you drive in on a festival weekend.
Hotels with their own parking sidestep the question:
- Hotel Marisa includes private parking in a rate that starts from €50.
- The Parador has free parking.
- Casa de los Azulejos lists free parking.
- Apartamentos Calleja de la Hoguera sits on a pedestrian lane, where taxis drop guests on Calle Torrijos and the last 200 metres are on foot.
Public car parks and the wider access rules are in our parking in Córdoba and driving in Córdoba guides.

Each row links to the hotel page and to its Booking.com listing. The figures are the "from" rates in our listings, per night; they are not May 2027 prices, and festival nights can cost far more.

Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book a hotel in Córdoba for the Patios festival?
No official lead time exists, and no occupancy figure is published for the Patios weeks. The one hard datapoint is from the 2024 Feria, when booking platforms showed about 90% of properties unavailable for the first weekend on 13 May. The Ayuntamiento de Córdoba approved the 2027 calendar on 5 October 2026 (acuerdo 1215/26), with the Patios on 3–16 May, so there is no need to wait for dates. Book a free-cancellation rate and check the Patios festival event page for the programme.
Where should I stay in Córdoba during the Feria de Mayo?
A Centro or Judería hotel puts you about 25 minutes on foot from the fairground at El Arenal by one press estimate, with extended-hours buses reported at night. If you would rather sleep far from the noise and have a car or taxi budget, the Parador de Córdoba sits 4 km north in Arruzafa with free parking. Dates and programme are on the Feria de Córdoba event page.
Can I drive to my hotel in the Córdoba historic centre during the festivals?
Parts of the Casco Histórico are restricted-traffic zones that need an A.CI.RE authorisation. The groups listed for it are residents, garage users, local business holders, owners and drivers with reduced mobility; hotel guests are not among them, and one-off access runs through a prior notice limited to 2 per vehicle per week. Ask your hotel whether it can register your car before you arrive, or choose one with its own parking. More in driving in Córdoba and parking in Córdoba.
Is it noisy in the Judería during the Cruces de Mayo and Feria?
The Cruces barrios named by the regional tourist board are San Basilio, San Andrés, Santa Marina and San Agustín, where bar stalls and night-time music and dance carry on late; the Judería is not on that list, though crosses are spread across several barrios, so ask your hotel which is nearest. The Feria itself sits at El Arenal, and in 2026 the ground officially closed at 06:00. Hotel Madinat says its Judería lane turns from tour groups to residents by 10 p.m., and Hotel Marisa has interior-patio rooms for light sleepers.
How do I get from the old town to the Feria ground at El Arenal?
On foot it takes about 25 minutes across the Puente del Arenal from the old town, per one 2026 press guide. The city asks visitors to use public transport and issues a notice of special measures covering access, mobility and buses; press reports mention extended-hours lines at night, but check the current timetable before relying on them. See the Feria de Córdoba event page for the programme.
Is it better to stay in San Basilio or the Judería for the Patios?
San Basilio has one listed hotel, Hostal Alcázar from €32 a night, and was Patios route 5 in 2026; the Judería has far more choice and shares Patios route 4 (Judería-San Francisco). Pick San Basilio for a residential evening and the shortest walk to its own patios, and the Judería if you want more hotels and the Mezquita close by. The fares quoted are listing figures, not May prices.
