When to visit Córdoba?

The climate data, festival dates and crowd patterns: use this to settle the question before you book.

Spring is the obvious answer: April and May bring ideal temperatures and Córdoba's biggest festivals. But spring also means full hotels, long queues, and prices running 50–80% above what you'd pay in October. This guide maps the real tradeoffs so you can choose the month that fits your trip, not just the one that's famous.

Significantly fewer visitors at all major sights. Best for the Mezquita, Alcázar, and Judía. Morning visits are especially quiet.

Weekends (Sat–Sun)

Saturday is the busiest day for the Mezquita, Alcázar and Judía. Sunday morning can be good, as many day-trippers from Seville and Madrid have not arrived yet.

Budget travellers

October is the strongest value month: 27°C averages, easy monument access, and hotels running 40–50% below spring peak. No Patio Festival, but everything else is open and uncrowded.

For the cheapest visit possible: January or February. Daytime temperatures reach 15–17°C, mild enough for full days outdoors. Hotels run 40–60% below spring rates, and weekday mornings at the Mezquita are nearly empty.

Experience-seekers

May is the only month where three major events overlap: Cruces de Mayo, the Patios Festival (UNESCO), and the Feria de Córdoba. Book 3–6 months ahead; hotels approach 95% occupancy across the entire month.

If May feels too chaotic: April (Semana Santa, March 29–April 5) delivers a completely different but equally rare experience. Quieter than Seville's Holy Week, more personal.
