Entry is free during morning religious services. The central cathedral area is closed (access to about 60% of the space). No audio guides or guided tours. Arrive early as queues can be long.

Tips for avoiding queues

Choose the right time

Visit between 9:30–10:30am (before tour groups arrive) or 4–6pm (after they leave). Avoid 11am–3pm, the busiest period.

Opt for weekdays

Monday to Friday is much quieter than the weekend. Sunday is particularly busy.

Appropriate attire required

The Mezquita is an active Catholic place of worship. Respectful dress is mandatory. Failure to comply may result in being refused entry.
