The story
In 1993, José P. Ambrosio and his wife Rosa María Sánchez came back from Italy with one clear intention: to open a genuine Italian artisan gelateria in Córdoba. Thirty years later, Il Piamonte has the city's highest ratings and a permanent queue outside.
More than 100 flavours
The creativity here is the point. Over 100 different flavours across the seasons, with 38 available in the display case each day. The Chocolate Mezquita — a house creation — is a tribute to the city's most famous building. The Zuppa Inglesa and Cassata siciliana will satisfy anyone after the Italian tradition.
Classic and seasonal together
The helado de turrón carries the Spanish roots of the family — creamy, with proper nougat pieces. Granizados do what they need to on a sweltering Córdoba afternoon. Flavours rotate honestly: strawberry in May, fig in September, chestnut in November.
Getting there
The shop sits on a corner of Plaza de la Flor del Olivo. Closed only in November and February; otherwise open 3pm–11pm. Córdoban families pack in on Sundays, tourists drift in from late afternoon. There will be a queue in summer. It is worth it.
